Abstract
The purpose of this study was to observe histor-athologic and histochemic reaction of the pulp tissues in induced diabetic albino rats experimentally.
The 50 male albino rats, weighing 1808 or more were divided into two groups : alloxan induced animal and control animal group.
The experimental group was made diabetic condition respectively by intraperitoneal injection of alloxan solution (20^(mg)/100^(g) body weight).
Urine glucose concentration level, was monitered with Emes Testape. And to maintain
the glucose level 3+ to 4+, alloxan intraperitoneal injections were repeated respectively.
Twenty two days following administration of allo an, the surving animals, both alloxan induced and control group, were sacrificed and the jaws were fixed in 10% normal formalin solution.
And the jaws of both group were decalcified by PlankRichlo solution, sectioned in paraffin. And stained with hematoxylin and eosin, periodic acid and Schiff stain for mucopolysaccharide.
Following results were obtained
1. Definite degenerative change was. appeared on pulpal odontoblasts and fibroblasts on alloxan induced animal group.
2. The capillary reveals engorgement and dilation and local displacement of odontoblast due to capillary dilatation was noticed on alloxan induced animal group.
3. Numerous vacuolization sign was appeared on the odontoblasts and pulpal connective tissue spaces on alloxan induced animal group.
4. In molar teeth, large amount of pr:dentin and globular defect in dentin were frequently presented on alloxan induced animal.
5. The intensity of P. A. S. reaction was increased on basement membrane of the blood vessels on alloxan induced animal group.
